Some designs start in a studio. This one started on the mats.

One day, my friend and student Todd and I were sitting around talking music when he suggested creating a design inspired by a Tool album cover.

As we looked through their albums, we came across 10,000 Days. That sparked an idea.

10,000 DAYS became 10,000 HOURS.

A nod to the countless hours spent practicing, failing, learning, and showing up again.

We started creating and refining the artwork right there on the mats.

When the first samples arrived, we discovered four tiny grapplers tucked into the design—details neither of us had even noticed while creating it.

That's what THE MAT TAPES is about.
